What goes into a bespoke vehicle conversion?

That’s the life of the BT-HS workshop team entering the company’s workshop at HQ in Chorley, Lancashire, with a variety of specialist vehicles awaiting bespoke conversions for the company’s ever-growing client base.


Each BT-HS vehicle is defined by a passion to provide a product and service to its customers that emphasise the company’s constantly evolving skills and experience. BT-HS are invested in the bespoke conversion of a full range of vehicles and equipment for use primarily, but not exclusively throughout the Highway Maintenance Sector.


So, what goes into a BT-HS conversion?


As quality and safety enthusiasts, these are the two pillars that underpin BT-HS’ entire operation. The company and its workshop team ensure these two components are always at the forefront of its thoughts when carrying out vehicle conversion.


With quality and safety always in mind, what makes up the vehicle conversion process?


Customer needs


Listening to customers and clients is key; There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach at BT-HS. Delivering exactly what its individual customer needs requires position #1 when it comes to converting a vehicle.


MD Phil Glaiser said: “Ultimately, we are delivering for our customers. So, their requirements being met is the highest priority. Attention to detail is key so that we deliver the finished vehicle conversion correctly to the letter the first time, every time.”


Plan


All vehicles are thoughtfully designed using our knowledge and expertise, using both traditional time-proven techniques and cutting-edge design and technologies.


“Once we establish what the client needs, it’s time to make an extensive step-by-step plan of how we deliver,” Phil added. “Our team carefully manage this process to be both thorough and efficient, working diligently to the established schedule.”


Expertise


“You can have the best plan in the world, but without the know-how and the expertise to get it done, it’s essentially useless.” Said Phil. “Our team, led by Technical Director Alex Donkin, has the experience and ability to deliver specialist conversions that range from traffic management vehicles to mountain rescue vehicles, encompassing police vehicles and ambulances amongst others along the way.”


Care


“The foundation of the entire process is care.” Phil summarised.  “The bottom line is that our team truly care about doing the best job possible. Alex leads the team with passion and a commitment to safety and quality – and that’s what we as a business represent.


“When Alex and his build team hand over one of their vehicles to its new owners, it is done so with the pride of knowing that it leaves having undergone a long list of pre-delivery checks and with a clean bill of health.”


Each member of the manufacturing staff is encouraged to use their entire skillset and capacity, and it’s clear that the conversion of specialist vehicles is a multi-faceted process, with the whole team requiring great skill, efficiency, and care to get the job done to the standards expected by both BT-HS’ customers, and the company itself.


MD Phil concluded:
