As cities and companies across the UK implement increasingly stringent environmental standards, reducing CO2 emissions has become more than just a goal – it’s a necessity.
In response, BT-HS, known for its innovation and commitment to sustainability, is proud to introduce the first-ever electric Impact Protection Vehicle (E-IPV) at Highways UK 2024.

This ground-breaking vehicle represents a major leap forward for the traffic management industry and the drive toward greener highways.
Built on the Renault Trucks E-Tech chassis, the E-IPV is equipped with a state-of-the-art 375 kWh Lithium-ion battery that offers a range of up to 315km on a single charge.
With charging times as short as 1 hour and 35 minutes using a 150 kW DC fast charger, the E-IPV is designed to be both efficient and practical for fleet operators looking to make the shift to electric.
Backed by Renault Trucks’ 10-year battery performance promise, it offers reliability and longevity in demanding traffic management environments.
What sets the E-IPV apart isn’t just its electric powertrain.
BT-HS has designed and built the body in-house, incorporating its signature Scorpion crash cushion and full Red X capability, ensuring that the vehicle meets the highest safety standards. This combination of sustainability, safety, and innovation positions the E-IPV as a market leader in the transition to greener highways operations.
BT-HS Managing Director Phil Glaiser expressed the company’s vision, saying:
“The E-IPV entrenches our commitment to ensuring positive change and progressive development within our vehicle range.”
This milestone aligns with BT-HS’s ongoing efforts to lead the industry in environmentally responsible vehicle solutions.

At Highways UK 2023, BT-HS showcased two electric vehicles—the E-Transit TM 3.5t and the Polestar TSS/TSCO car. This year, they’re taking it a step further with the debut of the first electric IPV, alongside other electric vehicles specifically converted for highways use.
For fleet operators focused on reducing emissions, the E-IPV represents a major step forward.
Phil added:
“We look forward to welcoming visitors to Highways UK to our stand 265
“The E-IPV is sure to cause a stir, I’m sure. The electrification and decarbonisation of our sector is ever-growing, and larger industrial vehicles and larger plant vehicles must make the shift too alongside vans and cars.
“That starts here with our E-IPV, and it’s an exciting time for us to be able to finally unveil what we’ve worked so hard to achieve.”
