The unveiling of BT-HS’ ground-breaking electric Impact Protection Vehicle (E-IPV) at Highways UK 2024 was met with widespread enthusiasm, drawing the attention of government representatives, tier-one contractors, and industry leaders alike.
As the first electric IPV of its kind, the E-IPV marks the beginning of a new chapter for sustainable traffic management, with many attendees impressed by its potential to transform the environmental impact of fleet operations.
Throughout the event, the BT-HS stand was bustling with inquiries as representatives from key government bodies and major contracting firms sought details on the E-IPV’s performance, sustainability benefits, and charging efficiency.
The E-IPV’s unveiling prompted industry leaders to recognise BT-HS’ position at the forefront of greener vehicle development, with many expressing admiration for the company’s commitment to reducing CO2 emissions in line with the UK’s net-zero targets.
The E-IPV, built on the Renault Trucks E-Tech chassis with a custom BT-HS body and signature Scorpion crash cushion, has been praised for its balance of safety, reliability, and cutting-edge sustainable design.
With a range of up to 315km and backed by Renault’s 10-year battery performance promise, the E-IPV demonstrates that BT-HS innovation delivers a practical solution ready to tackle the real-world challenges of today’s traffic management industry and the need for more environmentally friendly solutions.
Reflecting on the success of the E-IPV’s launch, BT-HS Managing Director Phil Glaiser shared:
“To be the first to bring an electric vehicle of this scale and importance to the market is an incredible moment for us. It speaks volumes about our dedication to pushing boundaries and leading product development in our field. Of course, there’s always a bit of nervousness when introducing something so innovative and being the first in the market – but the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.
“It’s been humbling to see those responsible for our highways champion the E-IPV, recognising it as a major step toward safer, more sustainable roads.”
The response to the E-IPV launch has underscored BT-HS’s place as a leader in greener vehicle technology and sustainability within the highways sector and adds to its current provisions of other electric Traffic Management vehicles.
From government officials to contractors, the industry has resoundingly acknowledged the E-IPV as a pioneering solution for a greener, safer future, with BT-HS seeing multiple inquiries on a daily basis since the Highways UK event.
Phil added:
“The follow up post-show has been overwhelming. Each and every day we’re being contacted for further information and we hope that’s a sign that the industry is very much ready to see electrification become the norm for some of our sector’s larger industrial vehicles.”
