Phil’s professional career after leaving the army started in Haulage and Logistics. From Sales and Transport Operations Manager in the recyclable oil market he progressed into the Highways Industry as Crash Cushion Rental Solutions Ltd Fleet and Customer Manager. Phil’s career within the Highways Industry developed rapidly. He became a notable figure within the Traffic Management Sector for his straight-talking, honest and supportive approach to customer service.
Phil joined 2 Rent UK Ltd as their National Operations Manager diversifying his  vehicle rental experience and furthering his rental account management knowledge. Phil became responsible for the purchase, design, construction, and maintenance planning of assets ranging from small plant to large HGVs. Likewise, Phil was responsible for the account management and customer relationships for 2 Rent UK Ltd ensuring customers’ requirements were accepted, understood and exceeded.
Subsequently Phil became Highways Product Manager for Acklea/SHB where he was responsible for the management and maintenance of the business relationships of Acklea and SHB’s Traffic Management customers.
Phil’s combined knowledge and experience within the rental hire sector and the Highways Industry ensures that we offer our customers a complete operational understanding of their requirements. He is jointly responsible for the consultation, design, build and delivery of BT-HS vehicles. He is also responsible for the development and implementation of the Traffic Management hire fleet for BTHS.

After leaving school in 2010 Andy started employment as a business administration apprentice in the financial sector. Here is where he gained his experience first experiences of working within a professional working environment. Working with businesses and the general public Andy quickly became adaptable to different challenging scenarios.
Shortly after his apprenticeship Andy started his career within the hire Sector. Andy started working at SHB in Manchester as a trainee hire controller. Here he acquired a varied knowledge of  the different vehicles and equipment in their fleet, their applications and customers and immersed himself in understanding the requirements of both customers and colleagues alike. Andy completed his training at SHB and shortly became responsible for day to day running of the hire desk, assisting with operational running of the busy depot Andy’s knowledge grew in operational management.
Adept at dealing with multiple tasks: Andy thrived at the opportunity of organising and fulfilling the operational requirements of the depot in addition to being the face and voice of the depot. Andy also was responsible for the management of the Acklea division hire bookings.
In 2019 Andy joined BTHS as Business Manager on a training program to understand the specifics of vehicle specification and manufacturing and the intrinsic nature of the traffic management industry.  Andy looks after the daily operations of BTHS and is the go to man for the hire fleet, understanding the importance of the vehicles we provide and the requirement for a consistent and reliable back up service.

Leaving University 2000 Cat began her career in retail with The Body Shop. Starting on the shop floor Cat quickly
rose through the ranks, culminating in promotion to dual site manager in Liverpool. Her hard work and determination earned her the Retail Week Magazine Rising Star and 
Highly Commended Manager awards I
n 2007. She also won the Liverpool Business Information District Customer
Service award in 2012.
During her time in retail Cat gained many skills including customer service,
stock and financial control, staff coaching and development skills and a wealth of health and safety knowledge.

After leaving The Body Shop Catherine honed her management skills further within the retail sector and her career developed further into the
financial retail sector. This resulted in Cat managing over 13 stores within the North West.
Cat decided to join the family business in 2020 as BT-HS office manager. Cat with her wealth of knowledge in customer service, meeting customer needs and the drive to understand and meet customers expectations is the go to person for the day to day running of our administration.


Established in 2018 BT-HS has always been driven by a desire to provide vehicles and products that are focused around safety and quality.

With this in mind we quickly became accredited with ISO9001 : 2015 and ISO45001 : 2015 to provide an assurance to our customers that they could also be confident in our quality and safety standards as well as our products. To learn more about our accreditations click here.

Do your hire vehicles come with insurance?

We supply all our vehicles on a customers own insurance basis (COI) Customers are required to provide fully comprehensive insurance evidence prior to the hire taking place

Are your hire vehicles Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) and/or Low Emission Zone (LEZ) Compliant?

Yes, all our vehicles are compliant with the current and future requirements from 26th October 2020 

What are your operational hours?

We are contactable 24hrs a day 7 days a week 365 days a year on our main office number. Our offices are open from 9am to 5pm Monday - Friday and we open on Saturdays and Sundays by appointment only.

Do you offer a tracking service for vehicles?

Yes all our hire vehicles are tracked and customers have access to this platform included in the hire charge. All of our larger vehicles +3.5t come with recording CCTV as well as tracking and this service is also provided free of charge. We also provide the same system as standard to all our vehicles we sell.

Can we fit our own branding and livery to your hire vehicles?

We do allow customers to fit their own branding on our vehicles with prior permission. On most of our longer term hire vehicles this service is included when we build the vehicles.
We ask that customers do not remove the safety markings or statutory markings when applying their own livery and any livery they fit is removed prior to the return of the vehicle to avoid any removal charges. 

Do you offer collection and delivery? and what are your charges?

We do offer collection and delivery service for all our hire vehicles but this is subject to availability. Our charges vary and are determined  on vehicle type, location, time and type of hire. These will be confirmed at time of hire or vehicle purchase should collection and or delivery be required.

Do I need an Operator's Licence to hire your vehicles?

For all vehicles that are 3.5t tonnes gross vehicle weight (gvw) or lower customers are not requested to have an Operator's Licence and we do not seek this confirmation. 
For vehicles that are above 3.5t gvw and are used to carry goods on public roads for trade or business purposes you do need an Operator's Licence and we do require this confirmation prior to such hires taking place.

Do you charge administration fees?

In some instances yes we do, these are covered in our terms and conditions.
If we receive a fine or charge because you haven’t paid a charge or complied with the law then an administration charge of £15 per notification is made to cover processing costs. We may also provide a copy of the Rental Agreement to the authority or private company that has issued the fine or charge if we consider they have a right to the information and the law allows us to do so.

Do you have a refuelling charge for hire vehicles?

Yes our policy is to provide all our vehicles with full fuel and ad blue and to be returned with the same. On deliveries arranged by ourselves when leaving our depot all vehicles leave with full fuel and on collections arranged by ourselves all vehicles are fully fuelled on return.
We charge a refuelling charge based on the previous monthly released AA fuel price report + £0.50p per litre. The AA fuel price report can be found here

Are your hire vehicles compliant with the Tfl Direct Vision Standard?

Yes, all our vehicles over 12t are compliant with and hold DVS star permits allowing access into the governed areas.
