MEET THE BT-HS TEAM
Phil’s professional career after leaving the army started in Haulage and Logistics. From Sales and Transport Operations Manager in the recyclable oil market he progressed into the Highways Industry as Crash Cushion Rental Solutions Ltd Fleet and Customer Manager. Phil’s career within the Highways Industry developed rapidly. He became a notable figure within the Traffic Management Sector for his straight-talking, honest and supportive approach to customer service.
Phil joined 2 Rent UK Ltd as their National Operations Manager diversifying his vehicle rental experience and furthering his rental account management knowledge. Phil became responsible for the purchase, design, construction, and maintenance planning of assets ranging from small plant to large HGVs. Likewise, Phil was responsible for the account management and customer relationships for 2 Rent UK Ltd ensuring customers’ requirements were accepted, understood and exceeded.
Subsequently Phil became Highways Product Manager for Acklea/SHB where he was responsible for the management and maintenance of the business relationships of Acklea and SHB’s Traffic Management customers.
Phil’s combined knowledge and experience within the rental hire sector and the Highways Industry ensures that we offer our customers a complete operational understanding of their requirements. He is jointly responsible for the consultation, design, build and delivery of BT-HS vehicles. He is also responsible for the development and implementation of the Traffic Management hire fleet for BTHS.
Alex, a member of the Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) is a competently trained and time served vehicle engineer who completed his initial training as a vehicle engineer by completing his diploma in 2007.
After completing his diploma Alex worked at Brize Norton alongside the Royal Air Force. Honing his skills on a variety of different vehicles, including light and heavy commercials and airfield support vehicles. During his time at Brize Norton Alex received the Ovation High Performance Award in 2014 as recognition of his work and attitude of "going the extra mile"
In 2015 Alex joined Acklea/SHB honing his skill set further on commercial vehicles, focussing on equipment construction and equipment installation. Primarily on vehicles to be used in the Traffic Management Sector.
After serving 3.5 years and seeking new challenges. Alex joined a body builder as a production manager. While there he oversaw the designing of auxiliary vehicle systems and overseeing system installations on Impact Protection Vehicles and other types of Traffic Management vehicles.
Following this Alex started his own successful vehicle engineering company ADVE. Alex is well recognised for his focus on quality customer satisfaction and innovation. In 2021 BTHS purchased ADVE in with Alex joining the team by being appointed a directorship at BTHS where he continues our ethos of safety through quality.
Customer Account Manager
Leaving University 2000 Cat began her career in retail with The Body Shop. Starting on the shop floor Cat quickly
rose through the ranks, culminating in promotion to dual site manager in Liverpool.
Her hard work and determination earned her the Retail Week Magazine Rising Star and
Highly Commended Manager awards In 2007. She also won the Liverpool Business Information District Customer
Service award in 2012.
During her time in retail Cat gained many skills including customer service,
stock and financial control, staff coaching and development skills and a wealth of health and safety knowledge.
After leaving The Body Shop Catherine honed her management skills further within the retail sector and her career developed further into the
financial retail sector. This resulted in Cat managing over 13 stores within the North West.
Cat decided to join the family business in 2020 initially as BT-HS office manager. Cat with her wealth of knowledge in customer service, meeting customer needs and the drive to understand and meet customers expectations is the go to person for the day to day running of our administration.
Chris leads our workshop team supervising both the construction of new vehicles and the maintenance of our hire fleet, managing the technicians and the flow of production in the workshop
With a love to getting his hands dirty all though high school, Chris thought it would be a great idea to study a level 2 engineering course at Runshaw
college after leaving school. This further cemented his love for anything mechanical and electrical, helping him complete his
course with a destination, merit. Chris then furthered his studying by completing a level 3 engineering course with focussing on mechanical principles, electrics and fabrication. Chris passed this course by completing it with a triple distinction.
Chris started his working career at Halfords mid-way though his college time starting initially as a Christmas temp. While in
that position his dedication and drive resulted in him progressing to an auto technician role, fitting audio equipment and dash cams to all types of
vehicles earning him employee of the month numerous times.
Jason is a Brummie lad who has moved to the heights of sunny Staffordshire. Well placed in the central band of the midlands Jason using his experience in Sales and Business Development is well versed in dealing with all areas of business and customer account management.
Jason's career started in a factory as a machine operator, completing his City and Guilds in Mechanical Engineering and his ONC & HNC in Polymer Technology, he used his training and skills to progress up the ladder eventually moving into sales where he found his real passion. Jason's sales and account management experience includes successful spells as Sales & Operations Manager for LED Auto lamps and Labcraft.
Being in and around the vehicle parts industry for around 30 years, working for both suppliers and manufacturers. Jason's experience of dealing with extensive ranges of both small and large companies, growing relationships and developing meaningful solutions to help customers achieve what they need. vehicles from small vans, trucks & trailers, to emergency services vehicles. Jason's years of experience enable him to help, guide, and discuss all our customer needs and wants.
In Jason down time his passions are Family, Cooking, and of course footy.....oh and if you're lucky you might see him with a microphone in his hand one day.
Fleet and Office Administrator
Carly looks after all the hire fleet and general administration at BT-HS.
A passion for a fast paced working environment, Carly is known for delivering the excellent customer care and service BT-HS customers require. Carly comes from the retail and pharmaceutical industry, with a wealth of knowledge of medication, and is frequently used and referred to as our unofficial in house doctor.
As a keen and devoted equestrian, Carly took to riding from a very young age. Eager to compete she competed in a number of local competitions which fuelled her desire for all things equestrian, eventually leading to her competing for bigger national titles.
When Carly's not horse riding or doing horsey stuff, you will find her in the gym. She claims to be committed to training and lifting weights, what we do know is she has a distinct addiction to porridge.

FREQUENTY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do your hire vehicles come with insurance?
We supply all our vehicles on a customers own insurance basis (COI) Customers are required to provide fully comprehensive insurance evidence prior to the hire taking place
Are your hire vehicles Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) and/or Low Emission Zone (LEZ) Compliant?
Yes, all our vehicles are compliant with the current and future requirements from 26th October 2020
Are your hire vehicles compliant with the Tfl Direct Vision Standard?
Yes, all our vehicles over 12t are compliant with and hold DVS star permits allowing access into the governed areas.
What are your operational hours?
We are contactable 24hrs a day 7 days a week 365 days a year on our main office number. Our offices are open from 9am to 5pm Monday - Friday and we open on Saturdays and Sundays by appointment only.
Do you offer a tracking service for vehicles?
Yes all our hire vehicles are tracked and customers have access to this platform included in the hire charge. All of our larger vehicles +3.5t come with recording CCTV as well as tracking and this service is also provided free of charge. We also provide the same system as standard to all our vehicles we sell.
Can we fit our own branding and livery to your hire vehicles?
We do allow customers to fit their own branding on our vehicles with prior permission. On most of our longer term hire vehicles this service is included when we build the vehicles.
We ask that customers do not remove the safety markings or statutory markings when applying their own livery and any livery they fit is removed prior to the return of the vehicle to avoid any removal charges.
Do you offer collection and delivery? and what are your charges?
We do offer collection and delivery service for all our hire vehicles but this is subject to availability. Our charges vary and are determined on vehicle type, location, time and type of hire. These will be confirmed at time of hire or vehicle purchase should collection and or delivery be required.
Do I need an Operator's Licence to hire your vehicles?
For all vehicles that are 3.5t tonnes gross vehicle weight (gvw) or lower customers are not requested to have an Operator's Licence and we do not seek this confirmation.
For vehicles that are above 3.5t gvw and are used to carry goods on public roads for trade or business purposes you do need an Operator's Licence and we do require this confirmation prior to such hires taking place.
Do you charge administration fees?
In some instances yes we do, these are covered in our terms and conditions.
If we receive a fine or charge because you haven’t paid a charge or complied with the law then an administration charge of £15 per notification is made to cover processing costs.
We may also provide a copy of the Rental Agreement to the authority or private company that has issued the fine or charge if we consider they have a right to the information and the law allows us to do so.
We also charge for failed attendance and presentation for pre arranged service and maintenance appointments.
Do you have a refuelling charge for hire vehicles?
Yes our policy is to provide all our vehicles with full fuel and ad blue and to be returned with the same. On deliveries arranged by ourselves when leaving our depot all vehicles leave with full fuel and on collections arranged by ourselves all vehicles are fully fuelled on return.
We charge a refuelling charge based on the previous monthly released AA fuel price report + £0.50p per litre. The AA fuel price report can be found here
Do you offer funding options for you vehicles and vehicle conversions?
At BT-HS we can introduce you to funders under a now obligation introduction who specialise in commercial vehicle funding.
Can we supply our own chassis for conversion?
Yes, while we have access to various chassis some of our customers have national fleet arrangements with chassis manufacturers. We can convert on either free issue chassis supplied by our customers or chassis we source on your behalf.
Do your vehicles come with a warranty?
Yes, all BT-HS vehicles come with a bumper to bumper 3 year warranty for complete piece of mind. We place a lot of emphasis on our quality and quality procedures, to ensure that the vehicles we provide our customers are to the best workmanship standard from the day they leave our workshops. This allows us the confidence to place a 3 year warranty on all our vehicles.
